"Something wicked this way comes…"

At the Beacon House Inn we are always seeking out the “best” of our area to recommend to our guests. Well, the months of May and June bring one of our favorite festivals, Shakespeare on the Green at Greenfield Lake. This festival began back in 1993 and has become the largest FREE Shakespeare Festival in the South East.

Performances take place at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. The venue itself is gorgeous. The outdoor theater sits beside the lake surrounded by moss draped trees and blooming flowers. It is a beautiful spot to take in some of the Bard’s great works. What better way to spend an evening than with a picnic dinner and bottle of wine enjoying the outdoors and taking in some culture?

This year’s productions include Shadows of Shakespeare, featuring a collection of Shakespeare’s characters including the infamous Macbeth performed in full shadow. Measure by Measure will also be featured this season. It is a dark comedy that tells the tale of what can happen when we confuse lust with love.

So, come to the beach and get your culture on with an outdoor play!  We look forward to seeing you this June at the Beacon House Inn.
